C. E. Smith is an independent scholar. Graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a PhD in Contemporary Gothic Literature, her areas of research include twenty-first century literature, gender and queer studies, identity studies, ecocriticism, and theoretical approaches beyond postmodernism. Her book, Metamodern Gothic: Exploring Identity in the Twenty-First Century, is due to be published by University of Wales Press in 2026.
