Marianne Paquin is a PhD candidate from the Université de Montréal in Canada. Her dissertation explores the representation of shame in Female Gothic novels of the long eighteenth century. Her work is dedicated to bringing back into scholarly discussion neglected texts of the Female Gothic and to observe how they position emotion as a central force in the construction of feminine subjectivity.
