IGA Conference
The IGA holds an international conference every two years. Past plenary speakers have included Xavier Aldana Reyes, Steven Bruhm, Justin Edwards, Jerrold E. Hogle, Karen MacFarlane, David Punter, Agnieszka Soltysik Monnet, Catherine Spooner and Victor Sage.
As well as intellectual stimulation, our conferences offer great networking opportunities with academics, practitioners, publishers, and anyone with a serious interest in gothic studies and practices. These events are also tremendous fun; conference-related events have included a masque ball, a tour round Horace Walpole’s house at Strawberry Hill, many a Goth disco, and a Magic Lantern Show.
Since 1991 the conference has been sponsored by members’ host institutions from all over Europe and North America; as we expand and welcome new members worldwide, we look forward to receiving conference proposals from members based anywhere in the world. When considering your proposals, the Executive Committee takes into consideration:
- suitability of location
- support to be offered by the host university (administrative and financial)
- membership history of the potential host member
- cost of transport and residence for delegates
